Obituary

Mr. William "Blaine" Baker, age 92, passed away February 3, 2022. He was born on March 1, 1929 in Lexa, Arkansas to James Richard Baker, Jr. and Thalia Millian Baker.

Mr. Baker was a resident of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. He was Methodist by faith and a member of the Good News United Methodist Church in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. He was known as an encourager, and he dearly loved the Lord. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving his country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He worked as the President of Motion Picture Laboratories in Memphis, TN. He also served as President of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. He was a very talented storyteller. Blaine and his wife, Jo "Brandy" Baker, came to the Santa Rosa Beach area from Memphis, TN. His career was based in radio, television, film and video tape. His work there was interrupted for four years as he served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. During this time, he spent one year in Korea during the Korean War. He was also a talented Baker famous for Baker Built Pizza and his cookies.

Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his father and mother; one brother, James W. Baker; one sister, Mildred Baker Brown; and his daughter, Sherry Baker Kelley.

Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 34 years, Brandy Baker of Santa Rosa Beach. FL; son Daniel Blaine Baker and wife Leslie of Greenville, S.C; daughters Terrye Gene Baker of Memphis, TN and Shari Miles and husband Rick of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; sister Martha Durren of Lexa, AR; grandchildren Erin Kelley, Andrew Kelley, Tyler Miles, and Chase Miles; and his great-grandson Blaine Baker.

Visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 PM, Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Good News United Methodist Church; 4747 US Highway 98W, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Good News United Methodist Church, with Reverends Brad Goode and Pete Hyde officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) or the Alaqua Animal Refuge (alaqua.org).

Burial will follow in the Historic Gulf Cemetery with Military Honors by the United States Air Force.
