Mrs. Valerie Jessica Byrd of Bonifay, Florida gained her angel wings on July 16, 2023 after a extended illness. Valerie was born in Valley Stream Long Island, New York. She was a daughter in a military family and also lived in England, Montgomery, Alabama, Panama City, Florida and DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Valerie was employed by the Alabama State Department of Education until she became disabled with mental illness which she battled with great strength and courage. She was the sweetest, loving, caring person always putting others before herself and rarely complained through her life. Valerie had a great love for animals. She lived her life as a Christian.

Valerie was preceded in death by her parents John H. and Jessie Larsen, Jr.

Valerie is survived by her three sisters Karen Benefield of Montgomery, Alabama, Rhonda Starnes of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and Kristine Glackmeyer (Michael) of Abilene, Texas. She is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews She will be fondly remembered by all. A special thank you to everyone that contributed to Valerie's care at the Bonifay Nursing and Rehab Center.

Burial will be held without services at Magnolia Cemetery.
