On Monday, January 16 ^th Tennia Janet (Gundersen) Dalen (87), our beloved mother and wife passed away.  She was born to Aagot (Olsen) and Palmer Gundersen.

Tennia was born in Farsund, Norway December 8 ^th , 1935. She met Lars J. Dalen at Fredtune Ungdoms School in Norway.  They married in West Orange, New Jersey in 1956.  Tennia played piano and organ for many years at Eagle Rock Evangelic Church.  Her love of music led her to compose over 20 Christian songs and poems.  Tennia also wrote Christian articles for the Norwegian magazine "Sendebudet".

Music was not her only gift.  Tennia could knit.  She knitted socks, vests, sweaters for the youth at Boys Town USA, Indian Reservations and knitted bonnets for newborns at numerous maternity wards. She strongly supported Jean Browning Maternity Home in Alabama. And often opened her home to the young mothers and their children for the weekend. Tennia also volunteered her time at Caring and Sharing here in Santa Rosa Beach, earning her 20-year pin. Both Tennia and Lars sang in the Ecumenical Choir for years. I do believe she knitted all choir members socks one Christmas as well.

Tennia was a quiet sweet lady that loved the Lord and her family and she gave selflessly and compassionately to anyone with need. She will be greatly missed.

Preceding in her death were her parents, Aagot and Palmer Gundersen; brother, Rev. Willmore Gundersen and daughter, Joni Dalen. Tennia is survived by husband Lars J. Dalen; Children, John (Ingvild) Dalen, Janet (Buddy) Love, Joyce (Frank) Lyman, Judy Dalen, Jenice Dalen along with 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
