Mr. Samuel R. (Roddy) Harrison passed away on January 26, 2022. Roddy was born in the Pleasant Grove Community in Walton County, Florida on December 13, 1935 to Horace and Ethel Anderson Harrison.

He was a 1953 graduate of Walton High School and a 1957 graduate of Florida State University. He returned later to FSU for his master's degree in education administration.

Roddy was a devoted educator for 35 years. He served first as a teacher in Darlington, Paxton, and Liberty schools and later as principal at Paxton, Walton High School and Maude Saunders Elementary School in Walton County. Additionally, he worked with PAEC for eight years as an Elementary Education Consultant.

He loved Jesus and served Him well as a Sunday School teacher, music director, and deacon in several Southern Baptist Churches.

Roddy had a heart for God's creation and spent a lifetime cultivating and sharing that love with everyone in his life. His farm was the best example of this. The pride he had in his garden, Brangus cattle, hay, honeybee hives, and most importantly the cabin he built was obvious to all who visited the farm.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann, three children, Sonya McCormick, Frank Harrison (Kelley), and Anna Cramer (Alan); four grandchildren, Paul Allen McCormick (Amy), Victoria Nelson (Cody), Riley and Ella Harrison; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by three brothers: Kenneth, Ralph (Ruby Lee) and Eddie (Pam) and many nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church; 5064 County Highway 1883, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Dan Harrison and Reverend Dan Newton officiating.

Flowers will be accepted.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Harrison, Chuck Harrison, Paul Allen McCormick, Alan Cramer, Cody Nelson, and Timmy Carter.

Burial will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
