December 3, 1953 – May 11, 2024
Mr. Roy Dale Houseman, age 70, born in DeFuniak Springs – to Dovie Lou and George Washington Houseman.
Mr. Houseman was raised in Freeport and graduated from Freeport High School He was a man of many skills – a Certified Master Gardener and an accomplished carpenter, a journeyman Plumber and a farmer – his great joy in life was animals, including but especially his dog Emmit, who preceded him in death last year. He was a man of great Christian Faith. A man who loved family and friends and a gregarious personality. Roy never met a stranger and was known for striking up a conversation with anyone. He was very well connected in the community and loved DeFuniak Springs. He served his country in the United States Army as a Army Ranger.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother and his Step-Father William Guy Fannin, his brother, Larry Fannin, his uncle Charles J. Ward and his wives Diane Houseman, and Tina Houseman.
He is survived by his significant other Barbara Redden – his children, Roy Dale Houseman II, Jarrod Houseman, Ashley Houseman; sister, Bertha Fannin-Beaver, his aunt, Hazel Evans, and grandchildren Peyton Houseman, Emily Houseman and Scarlet Houseman and his nieces Kris Lee, Jeffery Causey and Perry Fannin and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the family residence.
