Mr. Robert Louis Seigler, age 81, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his family on Monday, August 19, 2019. He was born November 13, 1937 in Apoka, Florida to Lummie and Mary Williams Seigler.
Mr. Seigler was a resident of Walton County for most of his life. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the DeFuniak Springs First Baptist Church. He served as a Baptist Deacon for many years. He also served as a Gideon with the Walton County Gideons Camp and was very involved with the Gideon Jail Ministries. He was in the Florida Army National Guard for 33 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his service, he received the Army Service Ribbon, Army Recruiter Badge, Florida Service Medal, Florida Service Ribbon, Florida Commission Medal, and Florida State Active Duty Ribbon. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked with the Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission for 31 years before retiring. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM # 170, DeFuniak Springs Lodge. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Seigler was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Seigler is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Phyllis Campbell Seigler of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; one son, Lyle Seigler and wife Shannon of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; granddaughters, Skylar McLean Green and husband Michael of DeFuniak Springs, and Taylor Lyle Seigler and future husband Zachary Sellers of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; one great grandson, Winston Forrest Green; three sisters, Geanette Greene and husband Alf of Iron City, Georgia, Betty Alford of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and Irma Martin of Texas; brother-in-law, Dewitt Campbell and nephew Chris Campbell both of DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
A time of visitation will be held from 6:00~8:00 PM, Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at DeFuniak Springs First Baptist Church; 216 Live Oak Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at DeFuniak Springs First Baptist Church, with Reverends Tim Burnham and Doug Hogg officiating.
Those asked to serve as pallbearers are Justin Johnson, Spence Johnson, Mark Weeks, Peck Cawthon, Donnie Richardson and David Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Paige, Jimmy Brannon, Eddie Williams and Ron Pugh. Burial will be held at Euchee Valley Cemetery, with Military Honors.
Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to the Walton County Gideon Camp at PO Box 925, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
