Infinger
December 7, 1934 – July 9, 2023
Mr. Randall Louis Infinger, age 88, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023. He was born on December 7, 1934 in Walton County, Florida to Hubert N. and Bertie Strickland Infinger.
Mr. Infinger has been a member of First Baptist Church in DeFuniak Springs since 1947. He has served in several positions in the church including being an ordained deacon. He graduated from Walton Senior High School in 1953. After high school, he attended Okaloosa Walton Community College. He married Annette McCollough on June 26, 1955 and had recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with two children, Dana Kay Evans and Randy Infinger.
His career involved being employed by Vitro Services and RCA at Eglin Air Force Base and retiring in 1996. He was then elected as a Walton County Commissioner in 1996 and served until 2000. In 2002, he had the pleasure of serving our community as the Walton County Fair Manager, which he retired from in 2019. He has owned and operated a local farm for the past 46 years.
Randall had the pleasure to serve on several boards that contribute and serve our local area. He has served on the following boards: The West Florida Regional Planning Council, Florida Three Rivers Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc., Tri-County Community Council, Advisor Board and Board of Directors from the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Florida, Florida Association of Counties Trust on the Board of Trustees, and Board of Directors for the Walton County Fair.
Randall was involved in the community from a recreational standpoint. He served as a basketball and football official. He operated the official scoreboard at Walton Senior High School for football and basketball games for over 40 years. He was involved in forming the DeFuniak Springs Pee-Wee football league, as well. He coached Little League baseball in DeFuniak Springs for 18 years, which was one of his greatest pleasures. He served on the local YMCA board as well as the Walton County Recreational Board. The Florida High School Athletic Association recognized him for 25 years of service. In 2015, Randall was elected in to the Walton High School Sports Hall of Fame for his service to the athletic community.
In December of 1999, Randall was named the first "Newsmaker of the Year" by the Walton County Press Club for his leadership and efforts in establishing the Wee Care Park. He had been greatly honored and proud to have been instrumental in the development of this park. He was deeply proud to see the park being used and enjoyed by so many in this community.
In 2017, he was the Grand Marshal of the 4th of July Parade sponsored by the DeFuniak Springs Business and Professional Association. Also in 2019, he was the Grand Marshal of the DeFuniak Springs Christmas Parade.
Randall spent his adult life serving as a volunteer in several different activities. All of his volunteering hours brought him so much enjoyment. He wanted everyone to know he was forever grateful and honored to have the opportunity to serve our Walton County community. He felt he had been truly blessed to have been able to serve as a volunteer to so many wonderful and caring people.
Mr. Infinger was preceded in death by his father and mother; one beloved son Randy Infinger; two brothers Richard "Ricky" Infinger, Ralph Infinger; and one sister Wynell Bulger.
Mr. Infinger is survived by his wife of 68 years Annette McCollough Infinger of DeFuniak Springs; one beloved daughter Dana Kay Evans and husband Joe of DeFuniak Springs; one beloved daughter-in-law Sarah Infinger LaPorte and husband Howard of DeFuniak Springs; four grandchildren Randa Ann Schumacher and husband Greg of Hawaii, Wesley Evans and wife Catrina, Alexandra Infinger Laird and husband Dylan of DeFuniak Springs, Gillian Infinger and boyfriend Kirk McKee of DeFuniak Springs; four precious great-grandchildren Samuel Wyatt Evans, Jay Randall Laird, Lillian Harper Evans, Everett Drake Laird; one brother Robert Infinger and wife Sandy of DeFuniak Springs; one sister Ann Sutton of Shalimar; one sister-in-law Carolyn Bludworth and many nieces and nephews that dearly loved him.
A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 14, 2023 at First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs; 216 Live Oak East, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435; with Reverend Richard Murray and Reverend Tim Burnham officiating.
Flowers are being accepted, as well as donations to First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs at 216 Live Oak East, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Burial will follow in Cluster Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
