Mr. Quinn McMillian Sr, age 83, passed away December 9, 2023.  He was born on August 15, 1940 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to John McMillian and A.V Adkinson McMillian.

Mr. McMillian was a lifelong resident of Walton County, Florida. He was Baptist by faith and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, son and uncle. He was a Veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving his country in the United States Army. He worked in Law Enforcement having served as Walton County Sherriff for 20 years from 1980 until 2000. Having led many innovative changes during his career including ground breaking of substation's in South Walton County, expanding the Walton County Sherriff Office in facilities and staff. When he began his career there was a total of 8 deputies on staff, at the time of his retirement there was over 200 deputies serving the county. He enjoyed farming and working on his tractor and working in the yard. He also enjoyed watching westerns and especially enjoyed reading his Bible, having read his Bible every day.

Mr. McMillian was preceded in death by his father and mother; his wife of 43 years Rebecca McMillian, brothers Bobby, Carvell, Jill, Thelton and Sidelle and his sisters Betty and Helen.

Mr. McMillian is survived by his children Quinn A McMillian Jr and Alicia A McMillian of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, brothers Phil McMillian and Lyvonne McMillian and wife Judy all of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and two sisters Sandra of Tallahassee, Florida and Hattie of Pensacola, Florida

Receiving of friends will be held from 10:00- 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church; 1015 Pleasant Ridge Rd, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church; with Reverend Phil McMillian officiating.

Flowers are being accepted.

Burial will be held at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, with Military Honors by the United States Army and Color Guard Honors by Walton County Sherriff Department.
