"Mac" Work, Jr.
September 27, 1946 – January 17, 2025
Paul McDonald "Mac" Work, Jr. passed away on January 17th, 2025 surrounded by his boys. He was born September 27th, 1946 to Paul McDonald Work Sr. and Lucille Carlan Work in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Mac attended University of West Florida and received his bachelors degrees in political science and accounting as well as a masters degree in educational leadership. He lived his entire life in DeFuniak Springs, and was actively involved in Beth's Kids Closet, an outreach program at First Presbyterian Church. He also served faithfully as deacon, elder, and treasurer of his church.
Mac started his professional career as a teacher, ending as director of transportation for Walton County School District. Additionally, he had an accounting practice and served as a city councilman, both spanning over five decades.
Mac is preceded in death by his mother and father, and his wife of 42 years Beth Campbell-Work. He is survived by his three sons Graham Campbell-Work (Lora), Hamp Campbell-Work, and Brut Campbell-Work (Chelsea); mother-in-law Frances Jones, sister-in-law Dawn Campbell; grandchildren MacKinnon, Hallie, Catherine, Gray, Bethany, and Onna Mae; and niece Kate Haulman (Guy Nelson) and grand-nephew Thomas; as well as many beloved cousins and friends.
A time of visitation will be 2:00-3:00 PM, directly followed by the funeral at 3:00 PM, Friday, January 24th, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church of DeFuniak Springs; 1063 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, Florida, 32435, with Reverend Cathy Mooney officiating.
Serving as active pallbearers are Richard Anderson, Greg Bledsoe, Wade Carlan, Brad Drake, John Weeks, Mike Davis, Mark Davis, and Jack Rhodes. Honorary pallbearers are Rodney Carlan, Bruce Anderson, Buck Anderson, Peck Cawthon, Charles Cosson, Benton Southard, Ron Pugh, Stan Bosenberg, Mark Anderson, Gus Andrews and Tony Anderson.
Burial will follow the funeral at Magnolia Cemetery on Judge A. G. Campbell's lot.
