Obituary

Mrs. Patsy Ann Rains, age 74, passed away August 9, 2023.  She was born on August 14, 1948 in Wingo, Kentucky to Hubert Johnson and Alleyne Bushart Johnson.

Mrs. Rains was a resident of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Patsy Ann Rains was not just any person to those who loved her and whom she loved. Patsy was a nurturer, a protector and a giver and she did not fail those who put their trust in her in these ways. She was a sister to three, a daughter, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. She had a passion for people, especially those who were less fortunate or down and out. She would cook for people, give them clothes, and just talk with people who needed company. Patsy endured and persevered in this life and left a testimony behind that pointed to her Father in Heaven. Her list of medical concerns was ever growing starting in her forties and made her tough as nails throughout the years. Any one fortunate enough to see behind the scenes saw a picture of grace, courage, and bravery held with dignity. She loved to write poetry and journal and do Bible studies. She also loved to sing Gaither gospel music with her family and take the grandkids to McDonalds. She loved her dog and collected angel figurines and was fascinated by butterflies. She would help and protect those she loved, and in loving them the way she could only do... she helped them spread their wings and fly. She found purpose in her life by supporting and loving others.

Mrs. Rains is survived by her son, Billy Rains; granddaughter, Ava Noelle Rains; two grandsons, Noah Landen Rains and Billy Valentine Rains; two sisters, Mary Williams and Carol Nickens and one brother, David Johnson.

When asking Patsy's grandchildren to share in ways that their Nina impacted their life…

One grandchild wrote: "She never left me, and she never abandoned me and being with her was the best, 13 years, 6 months, 21 days, 5 hours, and 2 minutes of my life." We celebrate Patsy Ann Rains and the life she intentionally chose to live no matter the adversity. We believe she is with Jesus now, surrounded by His perfect and warm love. And we offer all our thankfulness and gratitude to Him for sharing his daughter with us for the time that He did. We love you, Mom.

Romans 10:13 "Whomever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Hebrews 13:5 "...God has said: Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
