Mary Alice (Eddy) Land, 88, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 24, 2023.She was born Feb. 13, 1935, to Orville and Clara (Arbaugh) Eddy in Mingo Junction, Ohio. She was the last of nine siblings.
Mary married at sixteen to her husband, Derl Land. For the next twenty years, they traveled the world while he served in the United States Air Force. During those years, they had three children and shared many memories and experiences traveling together as a family. After retirement they settled in DeFuniak Springs, Fla.
Most morning you could find Mary on the porch watching the birds at the feeders while drinking coffee. The rest of the morning she spent working in her flower gardens. She also never turned down a car ride. It didn't matter where; she just loved to go.
Mary was a member of Southwide Baptist Church. She enjoyed going on trips with the church's senior group. She was faithful to visit those she knew at the nursing homes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Clara Eddy, her husband, Derl Land; an infant daughter, Shirley; six brothers, James, John, Thomas, Robert, Charles, Benjamin Eddy; two sisters, Ann Mae Shuman and Grace Morris.
She is survived by her two daughters, Norma Rediker and Brenda Davis and one son, Derl Richard Land; four grandchildren, Niki Page of Freeport, Fla., Traci Rediker, Michael Rediker (wife Michelle), and Austin Hunter Land, all of DeFuniak Springs. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces.
A time of visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m, Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Lyle Seigner officiating.
She will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.
Flowers are being accepted.
