(Cuchens) Hansley
April 21, 1944 – September 11, 2025
Mrs. Marjory Marie (Cuchens) Hansley, age 81, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025. She was born on April 21, 1944 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Marjory Marie (McBee) Cuchens and William Augusta Cuchens Sr. Marjory Marie was the 8th out of 9 children. She grew up on a farm and was quiet familiar with hard work. She graduated from Freeport Middle School and then Walton High School, she was very smart in school and graduated Val Victorian. She met and married Mitchell Hansley, a young soldier man from Hampstead, North Carolina, who was stationed here in Florida at Eglin Air Force Base. After marriage they moved to North Carolina. Marie was a very special person, she always had a Christ like personality, even as a very young child her heart was a giving and loving spirit, she always tried to put others first. She loved working with others and held many different job titles. She retired after working for Watkins Hardware Store for many years. Marie loved Church work and was an avid piano player. She served the Lord by playing the piano for most churches she attended.
Mrs. Hansley was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband Mitchell of 50 years, her brothers, William A. Jr., Roy, Hubert, Howard and her sisters, Olive Watson and Wanda Stevens.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Esther Marie ( John Anthony) Wright of North Carolina and two grandchildren Joel E. and Anthony M. Wright. She is survived by her beloved sister Wynell (Gregory) Welch, along with many revered cousins, nieces and nephews, one brother-in-law, W.E. Stevens. After living in North Carolina for most of her adult life Marie decided to move back to Florida, to be close to more of her family. She loved the closeness of family.
She was a Christian by faith and loved her Lord, she thanked Jesus daily for her blessings, praising and singing songs all her days, until the Lord wanted her home to be with him on high. Now she is reunited with family, friends and her Lord.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Hatcher Cemetery; with Reverend Anthony Cuchens officiating
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home; with Reverend Anthony Cuchens officiating.
Flowers are being accepted.
Burial will be held at Hatcher Cemetery.
