Obituary

Mr. Malcolm "Mack" Belvin McHenry, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024. He was born October 16, 1934, in Euchee Valley, Florida, to Lum and Minnie McHenry. Mack was a resident of Walton County. He worked for the Florida Park Service for 33 years. During those 33 years, he was involved in establishing numerous state parks throughout Northwest Florida. He enjoyed sitting on the porch listening to his favorite radio station WZEP AM 1460, where he was fondly known as "Uncle Mack". While listening to the radio, he would enjoy watching the birds and squirrels while thinking about going fishing in the creek behind the house. He especially enjoyed when family and friends would stop by so he could tell them a story or two from his past, and he had numerous funny stories he loved to tell.

Mack was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother Junior McHenry; sister Vera Peters; son Cary McHenry; and his loving wife of 63 years Betty Miller McHenry.

Mack is survived by three brothers Lonnie McHenry and wife Sherry, Mercer McHenry and wife Sandra, Kenneth McHenry; and two sisters Hazel Bell, Peggy Hudson and husband Steve; two special brothers-in-law Bobby Miller and wife Earlean, William Burnham and wife Teresa; numerous nieces and nephews; a very special niece, Gloria Miller, with whom he shared a special bond and whom was very dear to his heart.

A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 -2:00 PM, Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home; 150 Highway 20 East, Freeport, Florida 32439.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home; with Reverend Mike McVay officiating.

Flowers are being accepted.

Burial will be held at Black Creek Memorial Cemetery; 102 Memorial Lane, Freeport, Florida 32439.

Mack McHenry's family wishes to thank everyone at Chautauqua Springs Health Center and Gentiva Hospice for their kindness, care, and support in his time of need.
