Loretta Irene
Lowery (Nee Buchawiecki)
September 30, 1931 – March 7, 2025
Loretta Irene Lowery (nee Buchawiecki), age 93, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida passed away March 7, 2025, peacefully at home with her children at her side. Loretta was a daughter, wife, mother, a grandmother and entrepreneur. Loretta was born September 30, 1931 in Rockland, Massachusetts, daughter of the late William "Bill" and Annie (Glinski) Buchawiecki.
Raised in Rockland, Mass, Loretta began a career in Advertising where she met the love of her life, Carlton Merle Lowery (United States Army). They married in 1954 and remained together, devoted to each other for 66 years until Carlton's death in 2020.
Carlton served in the Army for 25 years and wherever the Army sent him, from Alaska to Okinawa, Japan and many places in between, Loretta made a warm and happy home for their family which now included two children, Carla and Brian.
Loretta was gifted in so many ways. She was an avid gardener, creating a beautiful landscape around her home. Cuttings from her garden became part of Christmas decorations throughout her home. Many of her paintings graced the walls of her home. She loved antiques and created beautiful decoupaged pieces from the Victorian magazines she loved to read. Later she became a business owner, Women's Boutique. Loretta loved all animals and had pets her entire life. Her home was always open to any animal from cats and dogs to an injured squirrel she nursed back to health and then set free. In 1995 Carl and Loretta moved to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, where they built a home, located just off the eighth green of the Santa Rosa Golf and Beach Club in which she and Carl were very active in seasonal club activities and events.
Preceding her in death was her husband Carlton, her parents Bill and Annie (Glinski) Buchawiecki and baby John. She is survived by a brother, William and wife Barbara Buchawiecki, a daughter, Carla of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, a son Brian and wife Lee of Darien, Illinois, 2 grandchildren, David and Jessica, and her feline friends Nipper, Abby, Maxi and Carla's kitty, Brodie.
