Mr. Leslie Byron Reese, age 95, passed away September 4, 2022. He was born October 2, 1926 in Freeport, Florida to Horace Edward Reese and Evelyn Jenigan Reese.
Mr. Reese was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was Presbyterian by faith and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of DeFuniak Springs. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He graduated from the University of Florida, receiving his bachelor's degree in entomology. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM #170 in DeFuniak Springs. He was also a member of the Rotary Club of Melbourne, Florida. During his tenure with Rotary International he was a Paul Harris Fellow and a past president of Rotary. He was on the Board of Directors of the First Federal of Brevard, Florida and on the Board of Directors of the Easter Seat of Brevard County, Florida. He owned and operated his own exterminating business with his brother, Horace, called Reese Exterminating. He also owned and ran Pop's Casbah Restaurant in Melbourne.
Mr. Reese was preceded in death by his father and mother; two grandsons, Charles Reese and Mikie Reese; one daughter, Linda Susan Reese; his siblings, Edward Horace Reese Jr., Frances Thompson, Betty Elizabeth Wallace, Edith Porter, Ralph Reese, and Henry Adams Reese.
Mr. Reese is survived by his wife of 72 years, Margueritte Reese of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; three children, Leslie Byron Reese, Jr. and wife Barbara B. Reese of Melbourne, Florida, Ronald Leigh Reese and spouse Linda Riley Gager of Vero Beach, Florida, and Louis Edward Reese of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Steven Rhodes officiating.
Pallbearers will be Leslie Byron Reese, Jr., Ronald Leigh Reese, Charles Cosson, Billy Fountain, Leigh Fountain, and David Johnson.
Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of DeFuniak Springs at 1063 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
