Mrs. Hattie Elzadie Alford Burgess, age 86, passed away December 29, 2022.  She was born on March 13, 1936 in Darlington, Florida to Jeremiah Alford and Addie Rea Peacock Alford.

Mrs. Burgess was a resident of Gaskin, Florida. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Darlington, Florida. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She graduated from Walton High School in 1953. She also attended Troy State University. She owned and operated Granny's Restaurant in Darlington, Florida. She loved to play softball. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a prayer warrior for Jesus and prayed for her family and friends.

Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jeremiah Alford and Addie Rea Peacock Alford; her loving husband of 60 years, James Burgess; one son, James Gary Burgess; five brothers, Bill Alford, Jerry Alford, John Gary Alford, Joel Alford and Jordan Alford.

Mrs. Burgess is survived by one son, Stewart Burgess and wife Sandra of Baker, Florida; one daughter, Debra Dunn and husband Steve of Samson, Alabama; daughter in law, Pam Leavins of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; two sisters, Gail Cole and husband RL of Wing, Alabama and Nina White of Darlington, Florida; two brothers, Douglas Alford and wife Joyce Smith Alford and Steve Alford and wife Sue Alford all of Darlington, Florida; sister in law, Joyce Alford; 8 grandchildren, Dawn Martin and husband Robert, Jamie Heady and husband Dave, Ira Miller and wife Kristine, Sam Dunn, James Burgess, Shawn Griffith, Brianna Crowson and husband Adam and 12 great grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Oak Grove Baptist Church; 1717 Oak Grove Rd, Westville, FL 32464.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Oak Grove Baptist Church; 1717 Oak Grove Rd, Westville, FL 32464, with Reverend Terry Smith officiating.

Flowers are being accepted.

Pallbearers will be Jared Heady, Dave Heady, Robert Martin, Sam Dunn, James Burgess, Brett Burgess and Aidan Twing.

Burial will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
