Obituary

Dr. George M. Frankfurter was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1933 to David Frankfurter and Klara Herzl. His mother died when he was 6 years old and he had very little memory of her. His aunt, Yulia Steckler raised him as if he were her own son. They were very close. The family survived the Holocaust and immigrated to Israel after the war. George Frankfurter was an officer in the IDF, where he met his wife, Zafrira Halperin. They married after they both completed their mandatory military service. His daughter, Michelle Frankfurter was born in Jerusalem in 1961 and his son, David was born in 1964. They immigrated to the US in 1967. George Frankfurter taught as a tenured professor of finance at Syracuse University from 1970 - 1987 and was awarded a chair professorship of finance at LSU where he taught from 1987-1999. He contributed to research in his field and published numerous papers and several books during his career. He retired in 1999.

Mr. Frankfurter is preceded by his spouse, Zafrira Frankfurter.

Mr. Frankfurter is survived by his daughter, Michelle Frankfurter; son, David Frankfurter and grandchildren, Maxwell Frankfurter and Zoe Frankfurter.
