Mr. Francis Joseph Trainer, Jr., 86, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022. He was born on December 9, 1935 in Astoria, New York to Frank and Margaret Cutler Trainer.
Mr. Trainer was a resident of Freeport, Florida. He was Catholic by faith and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Freeport, Florida. He was a Veteran of the Korean conflict and the Vietnam Era, having served his country in the United States Air Force for over 20 years as a Tech Sergeant. He also served as a Missileman, Drill Sergeant, and a Supervisor in the Air Force. He was awarded an Air Force Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, and an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor. He enjoyed woodworking and going out to eat with his family and friends.
Mr. Trainer was preceded in death by his father and mother; his sister Theresa Beck; and his first wife Sylvia Trainer.
Mr. Trainer is survived by his wife, Gloria Trainer; four sons, Francis Trainer, III and wife Rhonda of Freeport, FL, John Trainer and wife Jacqueline of New Hampshire, Louis Trainer and wife Mary of North Carolina, and Dale Trainer and wife Susan of Oklahoma; his brother George Trainer of Clearwater, FL; his sisters, Judy Brooks and husband David, Patsy Calber, Joan Trainer, and Margaret Peggy Trainer (all of MA); six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11: 00 AM, Friday, May 27, 2022 at Christ the King Catholic Church; 15542 U.S. 331, Freeport, Florida 32439, with Father Bob Johnson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Francis Trainer, John Trainer, Louis Trainer, and Joe Everett.
Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church; 15542 U.S. 331, Freeport, FL 32439.
Burial will follow in Hatcher Cemetery with Military Honors by the United States Air Force.
