Obituary

Ms. Faye Brown Thomason, age 82, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023. She was born on April 25, 1941 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Clyde Vinson Brown and Clara Bray.

Ms. Thomason was a lifelong resident of Walton County, Florida and was Baptist by faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending church. Faye entered a family of six children in 1941, then helped take care of the next five to come along. She always thought she was the black sheep of the family, being somewhat like the middle child. She was far from that – she was our center. She was our caretaker. She was the first to offer help. If we were sick, she was there until we were well. After her parents passed away, she was determined to hold our family together.

She married Roy Thomason and helped him raise his sons and daughters. When Chris Thomason came, it gave true meaning to her life. She was meant to be a mother. Roy and Faye loved to fish. They would stay on that boat most of the day and come home to fry those fish for all that would come by. Chris would later take his place on that boat and gave Faye the joy of fishing and spending time with him.

Faye and her beloved sisters-in-law Carolyn Brown and Carolyn King loved to go to Caring & Sharing. She would wear the clothes, then give them back when she grew tired of them. Littie says she believes she'd go back and buy some of the same ones. She would go to the food banks and share with people she thought needed it more than herself. She loved to go to Atmore with Littie. She had some money saved to go back - Littie will have to go and use it for her.

For two years, her niece Elizabeth Brown lived with Faye. She drove her around wherever she wanted to go. She was the greatest comfort for her. She was a great influence on the life of Tamara and Hope. She loved them dearly.

Ms. Thomason was preceded in death by her father and mother; her loving husband of 39 years Roy Alan Thomason; her four brothers Ruben Brown, Grady Brown, John Brown, James Ned Brown; her three sisters Gertha Baylett, Thelma McGough, Dorothy Brown; and one stepdaughter Reba Ann Crider.

Ms. Thomason is survived by her one son Christopher Michael Thomason; two stepsons James Alan Thomason and wife Ginger, Lee Roy Thomason; one stepdaughter Teresa Thomason; seven grandchildren; four sisters Evelyn Loquercio, Littie Mobley, Lottie Johnson and husband David, Becky Miller and husband Leslie; two special nieces Sonja Brown and Elizabeth Brown; and two special friends Julie Nettles and Carolyn King.

Faye loved the Lord and wanted everyone around her to know His loving grace.
