Mr. Edgar Winston Rushing, age 68, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023. He was born March 6, 1955 in DeFuniak Springs, FL to Thedwell and Elma Francine Prescott Rushing.

Edgar was a resident of Walton County, Ponce de Leon, FL. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era serving his country in the United Sates Air Force for 20 years before retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt/E-8) where he worked as an aircraft Liquid Fuels Systems Maintenance Technician during his USAF career.

Edgar is preceded in death by his first wife of 31 years and mother of his only son, Gwendolyn Singletary Rushing; his parents, Thedwell and Elma Prescott Rushing; two brothers, Roger Rushing and Kenneth Rushing; and sister, Gail Rushing Sherman.

Edgar is survived by his second wife of 15 years, Sandra Rushing of Ponce de Leon, FL; one son, Eric Rushing and one grandson, Ely Rushing of Ponce de Leon, FL; three step-children Aric Castleberry, Michael Castleberry and Amanda Castleberry Edwards; two brothers, Glen Rushing and wife Consuelo of Tallahassee, FL, and Randall Rushing and wife Lisa of Madison, AL; one half-brother, Jay Davis of Geneva, AL; one sister Beverly Whatley of DeFuniak Springs, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 10:00 am at Red Bay Cemetery with Reverend Kenny Montgomery officiating; with military honors by the United States Air Force.
