Obituary

Dr. Alto "Al" L. Jackson Jr., age 74, passed away Thursday July 29, 2021. He was born May 14, 1947 in Clio, Alabama to Alto L. Jackson Sr. and Pearl Norton Jackson.

Dr. Jackson was a resident of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. He was Methodist by faith. Dr. Jackson graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and the University of Alabama Medical School in Birmingham, Alabama. He completed his internship and residency at Tulane Medical School in New Orleans, Louisiana and continued at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas. His fellowship was completed at the University of North Carolina Medical School. He practiced as a Gastroenterologist in Montgomery, Alabama for twenty-nine years. He enjoyed attending Alabama Football games, traveling and entertaining his friends & family with stories. After retiring he became a gym enthusiast.

Dr. Jackson is preceded in death by his father Alto L. Jackson Sr. and his mother Pearl Norton Jackson.

Dr. Jackson is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Tricia A. Jackson; his children Julie and Christopher; his brother Robert Jackson; his two sisters Caroline Jackson and Pearl Strawbridge and her husband Ronnie; his niece Caroline Culp and her husband Chip; his nephew Ron Strawbridge Jr. and his wife Audrey; his nieces Barrett and Jillian; and two great nephews Langston and Hollis Strawbridge; as well as many friends.

A Family Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alto Loftin Jackson, Sr., Endowed Scholarship at the University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Business. Donations may be made to the fund online at https://give.ua.edu/ or by mailing a check referencing the fund to UA Office of Advancement Services, Box 870101, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487.
