David L. Bailey Jr., age 89, of Freeport, Florida, died June 27, 2024, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Miramar Beach. David was born October 10, 1934, in Norfolk, Virginia to David and Elizabeth (White) Bailey.

As a flight engineer in the U.S. Air Force, David lived in many places around the world, settling in Destin and Freeport after he retired in 1976. David worked and fished as the boat captain of the Nyla Jean and later retired from Destin Water Users. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and woodworking. He loved to meet people and never knew a stranger.

He is predeceased by his wife Patricia and son David Bailey III.

Surviving are his sister Annice Schuler of Luray, VA; his children Deborah Millier, Athens, GA, Denise Peet, Bremerton, WA, and Daniel Bailey, Lexington, SC; and six grandchildren, Dawn Basson, Ian Millier, Matthew Millier, Connor Peet, Levi Bailey, and Elliott Bailey.

There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, October 12, time and place are yet to be determined.
