Mr. Charles H Atwood, age 56, passed away April 2, 2024. He was born on December 22, 1967 in Fort Hood, Texas to Rita and Clifton Atwood, Sr.
Charles grew up in Brookshire, Texas and was raised by his mother Rita and his Stepfather, Charles Powell. Charles enlisted in the United States Air Force in August 1986. Charles was an Antenna Specialist in the communications field for the first part of his career. He later cross-trained to be a slick C130 Aircraft Loadmaster, he was a proud aviator who loved his job. He was stationed in several locations in the United States and Izmir Turkey where he met his wife of 30 years, Shelly. Charles retired as a Technical Sergeant after serving 24 years. Charles was a kind, big hearted man who loved life and his family. He admired and idolized his big brother Clifton Atwood, Jr. In the last few years of his life, he worked at Eagles Spring Golf Course in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He enjoyed his job, coworkers, and patrons of the golf course. He served several terms on the board of the Mossy Head Water Works, water department.
Charles is survived by his wife, Shelly; his brothers, Clifton Atwood and his wife Mida, Kevin Powell, Vernon Powell and Charles Powell, Jr.; his father, Charles Powell and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Barrancas National Cemetery with Full Military Honors by the United States Air Force

Burial will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery.
