Mrs. Brenda Cox Ray, age 81, passed away May 30, 2024.  She was born on November 30, 1942 in Crossville, Tennessee to Clay W. Cox and Ethel Tabor Cox.

Mrs. Ray was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. She was a very devoted wife. She graduated from Peabody College, which became Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee; receiving her Masters Degree in Music. She also graduated from Louisiana State University receiving her Doctorates Degree in Music. She worked at Mississippi State University as a college professor, teaching music for over 20 years before retiring and moving back to DeFuniak Springs, Florida. She owned and operated The Little Big Store in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, along with her husband Dr. Dennis Ray for 25 years. She along with her husband were avid supporters of Historical Events having founded and supported the Turn Around Society and The Visitors Bureau as well as other numerous societies. She was also a licensed Airplane Pilot.

Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 53 years, Dr. Dennis Ray.

Mrs. Ray is survived by her cousin, Sybil Brown. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

A time of visitation will be held from 1:00- 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Piney Grove Cemetery:1095 Piney Grove Church Road, DeFuniak Springs, Florida; with Reverend Earnest Powell officiating, Eulogy by Edison Barnhart.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Chautauqua Assemblies at https://floridachautauquaassembly.org/giving

Pallbearers will be Rocky Ray, Edison Barnhart, William Childree, Tim Roney, Travis Chillcutt and Adle Bruner.

Burial will be held at historic Piney Grove Cemetery.
