Obituary

Ann Louise Brazeal, 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida on July 18, 2025, just 10 days shy of her 94th birthday. She was surrounded by love, care, and the legacy of a life beautifully lived.

Born on July 28, 1931, in Port Arthur, Texas, Ann was the beloved daughter of Pete Joseph Pillitere and Catherine Barbeara Pillitere. She was raised in a warm, lively home alongside her siblings Bootsie Carlquist, BettyJo Chandler, and Bud Pillitere, who, along with his wife DeeDee, shared a lifelong closeness with Ann.

Known affectionately as "Sister" and "Tattie" to her family, Ann was a woman of strength, warmth, humor, and grace. On July 15, 1950, she married Webster Joseph Zerangue. Together, they raised four children and built a loving home filled with tradition and joy. Ann dedicated much of her life to being a homemaker – sewing clothes for her daughters Sue and JoAnn, sharing meals made with love, and carrying on culinary talents she inherited from her mother and grandmother. (Known for her rice balls.)

In the early years of their marriage, Ann and Joe purchased the 7up Bottling Company, prompting a move to Beaumont, Texas. Later, following their divorce, Ann's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she and her daughters opened a lingerie boutique, The Sachet Drawer- a meaningful chapter in her life of independence and resilience.

At age 66, Ann married Ernie Brazeal and returned to Groves, Texas. There, she was a daily presence at her Catholic Church- attending Mass and enjoying coffee with friends in her community. After Ernie's passing when Anna was 74, she found joy in road trips to the casinos with her dear friends, Lilly, Shirley, Laura, and Mary- adventures filled with laughter and lasting memories.

Ann moved to Florida to be closer to her daughter JoAnn and her grandchildren. One of the highlights of her later years was her 88th birthday party at Crystal Beach, celebrated at Jake and Judy's beach house- a gathering she lovingly described as a family reunion. She was also a devoted member of St. Rita's Catholic Church.

She lived under JoAnn's devoted care until the age of 91, when she moved into Watercrest Senior Living. There, she flourished in the company of new friends and engaging activities that kept her heart full and her days meaningful.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Catherine Pillitere; her sisters, Bootsie and BettyJo; her brother Bud and his wife DeeDee; her first husband Joe Zerangue and second husband Ernie Brazeal; her daughter Susan Shipley; her son in law Mark Walton; and her grandson Sammy Zerangue.

Ann is survived by her son Tim Zerangue and his wife Shannon; son Shane Joseph Zerangue; her daughter JoAnn Walton Graham and her husband Gregory; her grandchildren, Jarrod Zerangue, Catherine Shipley, Marcus Walton and his wife Cynthia Mendez, Kristina Hasser and husband Jimmy, Tony Zerangue and wife Jeni Salinas, Andrew Walton and wife Kristine Pangilinan, Olivia Shipley, Gwyn Brown, and William Zerangue; her great- grandchildren, Nola Schilder, Gunner Hasser, Jimmy Hasser, Benny Hasser, Amelie Mendez-Walton, Wilfred Walton, and Luna Zerangue.
