Obituary

Alcus Walraven McCullough, commonly known as Buddy McCullough, was born to Alcus Ralph McCullough and Eloise Floyd McCullough on February 27, 1961, at Lakeside Hospital in DeFuniak Springs. He passed away Wednesday April 6 th , 2022, at his mother's home. Growing up in the Eucheeanna Community, Buddy was a lifelong resident of Walton County. He loved to fish and hunt; ride his four-wheeler through the woods and take care of his dogs. Buddy loved his family and friends; he was well known and liked by most, giving a helping hand to those in need. Buddy worked on oil rigs in TX when he was a young man; he stopped when he was injured from an 87-foot fall into the water. He received his certification for welding from the Chipley, FL technical school, and enjoyed using his artistic abilities when welding. Buddy worked with U-Haul after hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, in charge of cleaning up storage units destroyed by wind and water. He also traveled to San Francisco for U-Haul to help renovate a 100-year-old bakery into a U-Haul office. Buddy was employed as a manager in maintenance with Silver Shells in South Walton for 12 years, becoming certified in pool maintenance. Buddy took great pride in his work and enjoyed interacting with people, however, due to health issues Buddy had to work less, using his welding skills as a part time job doing what he could when his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his father Alcus Ralph McCullough and his stepfather Dr. Howard F. Currie, his grandfather's Allen Walraven McCullough and Lester Lake Floyd; grandmother's Berlie Collinsworth and Allery "Annie" Mae Miller. Maternal and paternal uncles and aunts. One stepbrother Daniel (Dec) Currie. Buddy was the oldest of two children and is survived by his mother, Eloise Floyd Currie, and younger sister, Joann McCullough Culpepper and husband Bruce; niece Brenna Foutch Lavon; and great nephew Liam Lavon; stepbrothers' Hanes (Hec) Currie and wife Lucy; Patrick (Pat)Currie, wife Glenda and children; Michael (Mike) Currie, wife Penny and children. Two maternal aunt's Louise Valley Buie, children Kathy Louise Harrah and children, Harry William Kelly Jr., wife Pam and child, Beverly Sue Jackson and child, John Glenn Kelly, and Alan Kelly and children; maternal aunt Pearlie Mae Kever, children Sharon Morris, Micheal Kever, and Donnie Kever; surviving child of Raymond Richard Floyd, Lisa Floyd and children. Buddy was married once, to Wendy Jean Infinger Poston, raising her three children April, Heather and Terry and their children as his own. Buddy loved being a father and Papa. Buddy and Wendy divorced but he continued to think of the children as his own.

A time of visitation will be held from 9-10am on April 16 th , 2022, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Scott Keppel officiating. Buddy will be laid to rest at Eucheeanna Valley Cemetery, pallbearers provided by Glary-Glenn Funeral Home.

Flowers are being accepted, however, donations to the Cancer Society in Buddy's name would be appreciated. The family of Alcus W. McCullough would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice for providing comfort care for Buddy and the family, especially nurses' Michelle, Kenny, and Tanya.
