Obituary

Mrs. Annie Lou Laird, age 91, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015. She was born August 4, 1923 in Kinston, Alabama to Barney and Mary Catherine Brannon Anderson. Mrs. Laird was Baptist by faith and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, sharing with others, and providing child care for many of the children in the community. She was affectionately known as Granny Laird. She was a very talented cook. She loved gospel music, and her heart's desire was that all of her family and friends know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Mrs. Laird is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Calvin Laird, brothers Leo Anderson and Nathan Anderson, and sister Lillian Schotroff and Gladys Davis. Mrs. Laird is survived by her daughter Marie Laird Chancey and husband Earl; granddaughter Tina Chancey Anderson and husband Jerry; step-granddaughter Lynn Purvis and husband Joe, great grandchildren Chance Franklin Wilder and Ellie Marie Wilder; sister Suiden Neibert and husband Frank; brother Noah Anderson and wife Pat; brother-in-law Al Schotroff, also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, to whom she was a very special aunt. Visitation services will be held 6:00~8:00 PM, Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, March 23, 2015 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church; 5064 County Highway 1883, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433, with Reverends Jeremy Johnson, Tony Dixon and Kenneth Harrison officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Stringfellow, Don Adams, Colby Forehand, Mark Forehand, Greg Laid and Bill Laird. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Floral arrangements are being accepted, or donations may be made to Lighthouse Children's Home .
