Mr. William "Steve" Kervin, age 89, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023. He was born on June 12, 1933 in Red Level, Alabama to William Riley Kervin and Minnie Mae Dean Kervin.
Mr. Kervin was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was Presbyterian by faith and was a member of Glendale Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the armed forces serving his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He worked with Civil Service at Eglin Air Force Base for 40 years before retiring. He also worked at Winn-Dixie, having enjoyed visiting with all his customers. He loved going for walks, gardening, and deep-sea fishing. He also enjoyed reading and birdwatching. He was an avid Indy Race Car fan. He rode the Indy Race Car Track in Atlanta, Georgia, having received an Indy Car Commendation plaque. He also kept his family informed about the weather.
Mr. Kervin was predeceased by his father and mother; wife of 41 years, Tammy Kervin; brother William Charles Kervin; and one grandson Philip Brooks.
Mr. Kervin is survived by his children Jennifer K. Brooks of Wetumpka, Alabama, Jeffrey Steve Kervin of Jasper, Alabama, Renee Bellew and husband Anthony of Springville, Alabama, Joey Gatschet and husband Dion of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, and Nathan Kervin and fiancée Lindsey of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; grandchildren Jessi Kervin, Riley Kervin, Taylor Lawless, Kimberly Robertson, Rachel Miller, Lauren Henderson, McKenzie Bellew, Carter Bellew, and Parker McDaniels; and great-grandchildren Claire, Colby, Jacob, Addison, Elijah, Ethan, and Lilliana.
A time of visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 AM, Monday, April 10, 2023 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 10, 2023 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Richoux and Reverend Johnathan King officiating.
Flowers are being accepted.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 10, 2023 at Kervin Family Cemetery; 37472 Welcome Church Road, Red Level, AL 36474.
