William Ferlon Carpenter, born on September 22, 1955, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026. William’s journey through life was marked by hard work, heartfelt devotion to family, and a spirit that found joy in both simple pleasures and enduring bonds.

William was the beloved son of Horace Fotch Carpenter and Alice Rosette Smith Carpenter, both of whom preceded him in death, as did his sister, Audrey Gail Carpenter. He leaves behind an enduring legacy in the lives of those who survive him and will treasure his memory forever.

He was a devoted father to his children: Lamar Carpenter (Melissa), Alice Rosetta Carpenter, and Daniel Taft Carpenter (Kristin). His unwavering support and guidance were a constant presence in their lives. William was also blessed with the love and admiration of his grandchildren: Kory Arnquist (Abby), Gage Carpenter (Madison), Joshua Ferlon Carpenter, Kasandra Hammonds (Rocky), Duran Brett Carpenter, Shayde Carpenter, Chasity Crouse, Dixie Lee Carpenter, and Anthony McMillan. He cherished his role as a grandfather, sharing his wisdom and creating memories that will be passed down for generations. William was further honored to welcome great-grandchildren into his life: Bailey, Regan, Elijah, Sawyer, Alayah, Ezra, Amelia, and River Dare. Each child was a source of pride and happiness to him.

William devoted over forty years of his working life to installing stucco, earning respect and admiration through his craftsmanship and dedication. His work reflected a steadfast commitment to quality and reliability, qualities that carried through every aspect of his life.

Beyond his career, William had a zest for the outdoors and a passion for pursuits that brought him joy. He found satisfaction in pulling gofers and spent days hunting for driftwood, appreciating the beauty found in nature’s forgotten pieces. Music was a constant companion, with Outlaw Country providing the soundtrack to many of his days. William’s affection for old Chevys was well known, and he enjoyed recalling stories and moments spent with classic vehicles.

Though his absence is deeply felt, William’s example of devotion, integrity, and the pleasure found in life’s simple joys will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered as a cherished father, loving grandfather and great-grandfather, and a steadfast friend to many.

William Ferlon Carpenter’s legacy endures in the lives of his family and in the values he instilled: hard work, genuine passion, and the enduring power of love. May his memory remain a blessing and a source of comfort.

A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, Friday, August 7, 2026 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 7, 2026 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Rodney Infinger officiating.

Flowers are being accepted.

Burial will be held at Red Bay Cemetery.
