Obituary

Mrs. Thelma Lou Simmons Camara, age 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday May 10, 2022. She was born on May 16, 1933 in Noma, Florida to William Miles Simmons and Lela Mae Toole Simmons.

Mrs. Camara was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida moving from Freeport, Florida. She was Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a very talented seamstress, she enjoyed growing flowers and working in her garden. She was very dedicated to her church, serving the Lord was her passion and working with children. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter # 281 Freeport, Florida having served as Worthy Matron. She worked with Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home for many years and thoroughly enjoyed her job.

Mrs. Camara was preceded in death by her father and mother; husband Izaias Camara; five brothers Guy Simmons, Miles Simmons, Charles Simmons, Joe Simmons, Billy Simmons and two sisters Dell Martin and Odessa Matthews.

Mrs. Camara is survived by her children Lenora "Lea" Camara Presley and husband Dick of Durant, Oklahoma and Karen Camara Dunn and husband Gary of Enterprise, Alabama; three grandchildren Madison Lea Presley and fiancé Parker Holland, Holly Weston and husband Eric Weston of Wilmore, Kentucky, Airika Ortiz and husband Patricio of Savannah, Georgia; two great grandchildren Izaias Weston and Tobias Weston; two brothers Wayne Simmons and wife Diane of Freeport, Florida and Hugh Simmons and wife Naomi of Freeport, Florida and she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Doug Hogg officiating.

Graveside Service will held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Barrancas National Cemetery; 1 Cemetery Rd, Pensacola, FL 32508.
