Mrs. Sylvia Rae Mayfield, age 90, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022. She was born December 17, 1931 in Temple, Oklahoma to Ray T. and Faye Dowlin Norton.

Sylvia went to Temple High School and graduated in 1948 and married David Doyle Mayfield in 1954 in Temple, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Roswell, NM in the mid 1950's and she worked for Artesia Gas Company. In 1960 she moved back to Lawton, Oklahoma and in 1961 she had one son, Dowlin Mayfield. In 1973 Sylvia went to work for Oklahoma Probation and Parole Office in Lawton, Oklahoma and continued until she retired in 1989. She was a member of Sullivan Village Methodist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma. In 2009 Sylvia left Lawton, Oklahoma and moved to Destin, Florida to be closer to her son.

She is survived by her son, Dowlin Mayfield and daughter-in-law Denese Mayfield of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; 2 ^nd cousin, Robin Robertson of Duncan, Oklahoma and Todd Robertson and 3 ^rd cousin of Duncan Oklahoma.

Graveside will be held at  11:00 AM, Monday, July 11, 2022  at Historic Gulf Cemetery; 1466 County Highway 393  South, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459,  with Reverend Richard Murray officiating.
