Cofer
August 10, 1951 – January 20, 2023
Mr. Stanley J Cofer, age 71, passed away January 20, 2023. He was born on August 10, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia to Carlton and Gertrude Cofer.
Stan was a longtime member of The Church of the Apostles in Atlanta,
Ga. He graduated from Avondale High School in DeKalb County. As a
youth, Stan enjoyed jockeying cars at a local car dealership in Decatur,
Ga. Stan attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and made many
lifelong friends while he was there. His love for construction began
building cabinets in a cabinet shop. He went on to a 45+ year career as
a general contractor, building homes across the south from Sky Valley,
Ga to the Florida Panhandle. Stan married the love of his life, Jan, at
Peachtree City Baptist Church on July 4th, 1974 and they had over 47
wonderful years together. Stan had a personal relationship with Jesus
Christ and served as deacon and taught young marrieds at First Baptist
Church Conyers. Stan enjoyed music, Christian books, conversing with
his longtime friends, and being with family. Stan was a loving husband
and dedicated father who passed along his love for construction to the
family and they were always doing projects together. Stan was a bold
witness for Christ and his jovial, caring attitude will be missed by all
those who knew him
Mr. Cofer was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Gertrude Cofer and his loving wife, Janis R Cofer.
Mr. Cofer is survived by his children Alan Cofer and JoAnna Cofer both of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and one sister, Almyra Cofer of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Hope on the Beach Church; 3834 US-98, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459 with Reverend Jason Scheler officiating.
