Pauline Griggs
Ward
May 9, 1935 — Jul 6, 2026
With heavy hearts and loving remembrance, we honor the life of Pauline Griggs Ward, who passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, at the age of 91. Born on May 9, 1935, in Bay County, Florida, Pauline spent her life surrounded by family, faith, and the warm embrace of her community.
Pauline’s journey was marked by profound devotion to those she loved. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother—a pillar of strength and compassion to all who called her family. Affectionately known as “Nannie” to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren Pauline’s home was a sanctuary where love was abundant and memories were constantly made.
Those fortunate enough to find a seat at Pauline’s table recall not only the laughter and stories shared, but the unforgettable meals she lovingly prepared. Her talents in the kitchen were the heart of many family gatherings, with her pecan pies, chicken and dumplings, and homemade desserts bringing comfort and togetherness with every bite. These recipes became family traditions, and each meal was served with generosity and care—a testament to her enduring spirit of giving.
Pauline’s life was deeply rooted in her Holiness faith, a guiding light that shaped her actions and relationships. She found strength and purpose through her beliefs, sharing them quietly but powerfully with those around her. She enjoyed Gospel Music and sang in the choir at Beech Grove Church of God.
She now reunites in peace with her beloved husband, Lamar Ward; her deeply cherished daughter, Janet Peggy Ward; her parents; and her eight brothers, all of whom preceded her in death. The bonds they shared on this earth continue to inspire those who remain—reminding us of the importance of love, faith, and family.
Pauline’s legacy is lovingly carried forward by her surviving family: her sons Dennis Ward (Brenda) and Bradley Ward and his significant other Linda Cox; her loving granddaughters Melissa Padgett (Michael) and Whitney Spears; her dear grandson Jeffery Ward; her cherished step-grandchildren Shanna Barton (Roy) and Bobby Kent (Shelli); sixteen great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild, whose bonds enriched her golden years. Each of them—children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, in-laws, and extended family—carry within them treasured memories of time spent with Pauline.
Pauline’s legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of those whose lives she touched. Her unwavering kindness, steadfast faith, and the countless ways she showed her love will be remembered with deep gratitude and affection.
Though Pauline’s presence will be dearly missed, her memory will forever be cherished in the family stories, in the shared meals, and in every moment touched by her boundless warmth.
Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Euchee Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery; 5551 County Highway 183, DeFuniak Springs, Florida Highway 183, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435, with Reverend Joel Glenn officiating.
