Norman Wayne Stephens, born on November 26, 1959, in Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, in Ponce de Leon, Florida. Throughout his sixty-six years, Norman was known as a steadfast presence in the lives of his family and friends, earning their admiration and love through his commitment, hard work, and kindness.
Wayne’s early life in Tallahassee shaped his enduring values of diligence and perseverance. He spent many formative years working off shores on barges—a demanding career that exemplified his strong work ethic. Later in life, after retiring from offshore work, Wayne transitioned to becoming a CDL driver, a role he pursued with the same dedication and responsibility for which he was so well respected.
Family was always at the center of Wayne’s life. He is survived by his loving wife Lisa Stephens, who shared with him a journey of partnership and companionship. Wayne’s legacy continues through his children: Lori Conoly, Patti Dodson (Mark), Wayne Dodson, David Dodson, Melissa Lawnizack (Kevin), and Kristy Norton (Casey), each of whom carries forward his strength and integrity. He was a cherished grandfather to Jorgia Lawnizack, Keeley Lawnizack, Garrett Lawnizack, Merlin Conoly, Jordis Reed, and Judson Reed—grandchildren who will continue to remember his steady guidance and affection.
Wayne’s siblings, Linda Griner, Andy Stephens (Amanda), Debbie Goodman, and James Stephens, mourn the loss of a devoted brother and confidant. His deep bond with his family members enriched their lives in innumerable ways. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, whose memory remained dear to him throughout his life.
Wayne Stephens was a man of simplicity and sincerity who left a meaningful impact on everyone he met. Whether navigating the challenges of offshore work, traversing the roads as a CDL driver, or sharing quiet moments with loved ones, Wayne approached life with humility, humor, and an unwavering sense of duty. His steadfast presence and calming nature provided comfort and stability for those around him.
As family and friends reflect on Wayne’s life, they celebrate a man whose legacy will endure in his love for Jesus Christ, the values he upheld, and the many lives he touched.
