Nancy Louise
Butts
December 30, 1924 – January 22, 2023
This is the final notice that a mother, grandmother, friend, aunt, realtor, housewife, neighbor, caregiver, bingo player, life of the party and all around great soul has left us. Born In DeFuniak Springs Florida in Walton County on December 30, 1924, she was known as Nancy in the business world, Aunt Lou to her loving family, Mom to her kids, and Maw-Maw to her grandchildren. As fate would have it Miss Nancy met Morgan Flournoy Butts, love of her life and the man of her dreams. Morgan and Nancy Butts were married May 3, 1947. Morgan and Nancy had three children; Dennis Morgan Butts, Leslie Kevin Butts and Timothy Allen Butts and were the best grandparents to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nancy Louise Parker Butts's parents were Walter and Gussie McCall Parker, residents of 312 Florence Street, DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Nancy Lou had four brothers; Ben Parker, Ed Parker, Paul Parker and James Parker, and three sisters; Mary Parker Rutledge, Frances Parker Chase, Wilma Parker Hinote. Yep, this was the makeup of the Parker home sitting on the hill at the corner of Florence and Bay Ave. Nancy went to Walton High School along with her brothers and sisters. She worked at the Clerk of Courts, where she met Morgan. Today you can still see her signature on many books and court documents. Nancy was a strong woman and caring person when it came to business. She entered the business world by selling heavy equipment in Waco, Texas. She excelled in selling and was excellent in the state of Texas. She later moved to Louisiana and entered the world of real estate. Nancy went to the top of the class as realtor agent in Slidell, Louisiana. She sold and listed as top agent for many years. Nancy helped many military service families and just young couples just starting out in life with their first home. Nancy would gift the families their first bedroom set, washer or dryer, refrigerator or whatever they needed to start life in their new homes. Over the years, Nancy helped agents and owners through the process of buying a home. She kept the boys and Morgan busy running her business. She made many friends and gave her all for the company she worked for. When she wasn't busy helping Morgan provide for their family or chasing after her brood, Nancy would pass time doing the two things she loved; fishing and going to bingo halls. She loved the fight of a big bass on the line of the reel. She loved the thrill of saying "BINGO!" in a game with her friends. Nancy loved her life and loved her family each and every day. Nancy also followed the word of God and was a member and employee of Calvary Baptist Church. She was head of the school lunch room and helped many children through everyday life of going to school. She was (THE Boss) in the kitchen and ran it like a military mess hall. She loved the work and took great care to see that every child and teacher had lunch. After many years serving her Church family and school, Nancy retired and went home. At home you could always find her sitting in the garage with her husband Morgan watching her neighbors and visitors pass by. Nancy loved the outdoors and would spend her time in the garden loving life to the fullest. As she entered her 80's and 90's she slowed down due to the first stage of a very bad disease called Alzheimer's and Dementia. She fought this illness everyday with the desire to live her life for the Lord and her family. She got to see her newest great-grand baby, Boyd and the circle of life continues.
At the age of 98, Nancy Louise Parker Butts met her savior on Sunday, January 22, 2023 in the comfort of her home and we will all surely miss this strong, loving woman.
