Mr. Michael Jo Miller, age 51, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025. He was born on June 26, 1974 in Opp, Alabama to Joey Eugene Miller and Myra Kay Karpe Miller.

Mr. Miller was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was Southern Baptist by faith. He graduated from Barnwell High School in 1991 in Barnwell, South Carolina. He also graduated from Newbury College, receiving his bachelor's degree in music. He worked as the Middle and High School band director for Freeport, Florida for over twenty years. While at the High School he had 19 consecutive superior years of band performances in concert and marching. His passion was teaching his kids, pouring his heart and soul into their education.

Mr. Miller is survived by his father and mother, Joey and Myra Miller of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; his brother Mark Miller of DeFuniak Springs; friend Gloria Miller of Freeport; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 – 6:00 PM,  Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Heritage Church; 926 County Hwy 83A W, Freeport, FL 32439.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 6:00 PM,  Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Heritage Church with Pastor Blake Pryor officiating and Eulogy by Terry Baker.

Those asked to serve as honorary pallbearers will be the faculty and staff of Freeport High School.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Freeport High School Band Boosters in memory of Band Director Michael Miller; 12615 Business Hwy 331, Freeport, FL 32435.
