Obituary

Michael Allen “Mickey” Cooper, age 70, of Westville, FL was called to his heavenly home on October 26, 2026 after several hard-fought battles against covid, lung cancer, colon cancer, and pulmonary fibrosis. His faith in God remained strong and steadfast throughout these most trying times. He was dearly loved, and he’ll be truly and deeply missed.

Mickey loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, watching “FL Gators” football games, playing chess, and picking his guitar. He served his country (U.S. Navy); his church; and his community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

He spent most of his working life building things. He was highly skilled in all phases of whole house construction. During some of his final months he worked hard to build a new house for Jeanette and himself. He also worked offshore on oil rigs for many years. The last position he held was Foreman on a Derrick and Pipe Lay Barge.

He was preceded in death by his “Dad” Roy (Billie) Cooper; stepdad Ralph Gilley; and stepson Jared Sullivan.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 27 years Carolyn “Jeanette” Cooper; “Mama” Inez Gilley; sister Lynda Cooper McMonigle; half-sisters Debbie, Robin, and stepsister Cathy; daughter Crystal (Stephen) Jones; son Mickey Cooper Jr; stepdaughter Cheyenne Blue; stepson Gregory (Amber) Hutto; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also left behind one uncle, H.M. “Buddy” Hutto; a large extended family; many loyal friends; and a faithful and very supportive church family.

The family will gather to receive friends at their church held at 12:00 – 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 29, 2026 at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church 2167 Newton Rd. Westville, FL 32464.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 29, 2026 at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Mitch Holsonback officiating.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church at 2167 Newton Road, Westville, Florida 32464, with Military Honors by the United States Navy.

Flowers are being accepted.

Pallbearers will be Dewayne Martin, Dewight Martin, Gary Martin, Billy Martin, Joey Martin, and Adam Sanders.
