Mrs. Mary Leigh Mitchem, age 76, passed away July 18, 2023.  She was born on December 19, 1946  in Talladega, Alabama to John William Meacham and Mildred Brown Meacham.

Mrs. Mitchem had lived most her life in Walton County, Florida. She was a Baptist by faith a member of Gaskin first Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked as a Bank Teller and was a clerk at the Escambia County Court House. She also helped her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed growing flowers and baking. She was a talented interior decorator.

Mrs. Mitchem was preceded in death by her father and mother, brother John Bill Meacham and beloved aunt Stella.

Mrs. Mitchem is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Harvey Kenneth Mitchem of Gaskin, Florida; children, Kenneth Shane Mitchem wife Deann of New Harmony Community, Florida, Joshua Wade Mitchem and April Mitchem Sexton both of Gaskin, Florida; grandchildren, Keely Mitchem King husband Nick, River Mitchem, Honna Michem, Marionna Mitchem, Loman Mitchem, Hunter Sexton and Hailey Sexton; great grandchildren, Spencer, Ocean and Baby boy Sunny. She is also survived by two sisters, Becky Quarrier husband Wayne of Pensacola, Florida and Cathy Ricks husband Robert of Ohio.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Gaskin First Baptist Church: 107 County Hwy 181 E, Westville, FL 32464.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Gaskin First Baptist Church, with Reverend David Barker officiating.

Flowers are being accepted.

Burial will be held at Gaskin First Baptist Church Cemetery.
