Obituary

On Friday, January 20 th Marian Juanita "Nita" Adkison McLaney our beloved mother, Memaw, and sister passed away peacefully at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center surrounded by family. She was born to William Marion and Bertha Pauline (Cannon) Adkison on December 1, 1950.

Nita was Baptist by faith. She worked many years at CHELCO before moving to Georgia. Upon her returning to DeFuniak Springs, she worked at the Walton County Clerk's Office until retiring in 2015. After retiring, Nita enjoyed spending time with family, taking beach trips, reading, shopping on QVC and the Home Shopping Network, and loving on her fur baby.

Nita is preceded in death by her parents and nephews David Boswell and Robert Ramer.

Nita is survived by her son Roger McLaney, II and wife Chastity and granddaughter Krislynn who was her "Doll Baby" all of DeFuniak Springs. Nita is also survived by sisters Rita Boswell and husband Lester of Bonifay, Kathy Johnson of Hoboken, Georgia, Betty Bolena of Jacksonville, Florida, and brother Leroy Adkison and wife Diane of Gates, North Carolina. She is also survived by her nieces Beth (Tracy), Janet (Mike), Tammy, Tonya, and nephews Roy, Keith (Pam), Terry (Sue), Wendell (Sharon), Tony (Sharon), and David (April). She is also survived by numerous great nephews and great nieces. She leaves behind her special fur baby, Sophie.

A time of visitation will be held from 6pm-8pm, Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Her friend and next door neighbor, Pastor Ben Barton will be officiating.

Flowers will be accepted or donations to Camp Victory, 363 Victory Circle, Samson, AL 36477.

Pallbearers will be Lester Boswell, Terry Boswell, Sonny Thorne, Mark Hall, Roger McLaney Sr, and Rusty McLaney.

Burial will follow in the Red Bay Cemetery, in the Adkison family plot.
