With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lisa Michelle Canterbury, who departed this life on August 9, 2026, at the age of 50. Born on December 12, 1975, Lisa was affectionately known as Michelle; her journey was defined by kindness, devotion, and a gentle spirit that inspired all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Michelle made her home in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, where she shared her life with her beloved husband, Philip Ray Canterbury, Jr. Their bond was a testament to dedication and partnership, and together they wove a tapestry of memories filled with warmth and laughter. Michelle’s role as a devoted wife was at the very heart of her identity, and her love and commitment to her family were boundless.

She is survived by several loving family members: her husband, Philip Ray Canterbury, Jr; her mother, Beth Hammond; her brother, Glenn Holland (and wife Connie); her sister-in-law, Beth Childree (and husband Will); her nieces, Ashley Holland and Sandy Godwin; and her nephew, Tyler Holland. Each of them, in their own way, will hold closely the cherished moments they shared with Michelle. She was preceded in death by grandmother, Clara Lee Frazier, whose memories she treasured dearly.

Michelle’s gentle faith as a Christian was reflected not only in her words but also in the compassion she extended to people and animals alike. Her home was often a place of care for creatures great and small, and her passion for animal welfare was evident to all who entered her life. She had a remarkable ability to connect, nurture, and love unconditionally.

Pursuing a variety of interests, Michelle became a licensed Hamm Radio Operator, finding joy and community in this unique pursuit. Whether reaching out to new friends near and far or simply relishing the peacefulness of the airwaves, Michelle approached every endeavor with enthusiasm. She was also well-known for her love of cooking, often preparing comforting meals that brought family together, filling both stomachs and hearts. An avid reader, she delighted in the endless worlds that books revealed to her, diving into stories with imagination and wonder.

Michelle’s presence was a gift—steadfast, nurturing, and filled with gentle strength. To her family and friends, her memory will remain a guiding light, a testament to kindness that endures well beyond her years with us.

Her circle of loved ones, while now smaller here on earth, continues to feel the immeasurable reach of her love

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Monday, August 17, 2026 Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 17, 2026 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Walton County Animal Shelter at 365 Triple G Road in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
