Mr. Leonard Earl Byrd, age 91, passed away April 7, 2025.  He was born on November 21, 1933 in Walton County, Florida to Marion J. Byrd and Jeanette Gomillion Byrd.

Mr. Byrd was a resident of Knox Hill Community in Walton County, Florida. He was a Baptist by faith and a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked at Centel Telephone Company for 42 years before retiring and also farmed. He was a Veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Woody Byrd and sister, Cosette Simmons.

Mr. Byrd is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Bobbie Jean Byrd of Knox Hill Community; son Brett Byrd and his wife Amanda Byrd of Apalachicola, Florida and children, Mandy Stratton and her husband Marcus and their child Braxton Stratton, Justin Byrd and his wife Emily Byrd and Wesley Wilson and his children Aubrey and Ava; son, Bart Byrd of Marianna, Florida and his child Noelle Byrd; daughter, Linda Byrd Goley of Ponce de Leon, Florida and children, Michael Goley and his wife Natalie Goley , their child Chandler Goley and Jonathan Goley ; daughter, Brenda Byrd Story and her husband Tim Story of Tallahassee, Florida and their children, Brittany Williams and her husband Bryan and their children, Logan Williams and Parker Williams; Brandon Story and his wife Rachel and their children, Estella, Eleanor;  Blake Story and his child Liam Story. Granddaughter, Rayanna Griggs. He is also survived by four brothers, Joel Byrd and his wife Aubrey Jean, Wilmer Byrd, Hilton Byrd and Archie Byrd and his wife Linda. Five sisters, Sharon Galloway and her husband Gary, Janet Baxley and her husband Gordan, Jean West and her husband Johnny, Karen Osteen and her husband George and Kathy Marsh and her husband Donnie.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Monday, April 14, 2025 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church; 55 County Highway 181C Ponce De Leon, FL 32455.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 14, 2025 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church; with Reverend Richard Murray and Reverend Mike McVay officiating.

Flowers are being accepted.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Wilson, Brandon Story, Blake Story, Justin Byrd, Michael Goley and Jonathan Goley. Honorary pallbearers will be Mandy Stratton, Brittany Williams, Noelle Byrd, Rayanna Griggs, Rachel Story, Emily Byrd and Natalie Goley

Burial will be held at Euchee Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
