Lee McCormick Thomas II, born April 22, 1946, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of commitment to community, faith, and the enrichment of young minds.

Lee was a lifelong Presbyterian, serving faithfully as an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in DeFuniak Springs. His presence within the congregation will be deeply missed, reflecting the steady and compassionate guidance he offered for so many years. His faith anchored his daily life and inspired his unwavering dedication to service.

Professionally, Lee devoted a significant portion of his career to educating children as a Social Studies teacher. Through his classroom leadership, he nurtured curiosity, respect, and understanding in countless students, setting a standard of excellence and care. Beyond the classroom, he contributed to the well-being and future of his beloved DeFuniak Springs by serving on both the Planning Board and Cemetery Board. These roles exemplified his investment in the community’s development and stewardship, and his thoughtful influence will continue to be felt for generations.

Lee’s memory is lovingly cherished by surviving family members: his step-daughter, Sarah Bibb; his brother, David Allan Thomas; his sister-in-law, Rachel C. Thomas; his niece, Mary Noelle Schultz; and his nephew, Kendall Holt Thomas. Their lives are deeply enriched by his wisdom, kindness, and enduring warmth.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lee McCormick Thomas; his mother, Mary Josephine Holt Thomas; and his brothers, Charles V. Thomas and Steven K. Thomas. The loving bonds he shared with them remain an indelible part of his story.

As a devoted family member, respected educator, and steadfast community servant, Lee McCormick Thomas II will be fondly remembered for his generosity of spirit, compassionate leadership, and the positive influence he imparted to all who were privileged to know him.

Graveside Services will be held September 2026 at Magnolia Cemetery; 222 North Park Street, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433 with Reverend Cathy Mooney and Reverend Phil McMillian officiating.
