Lavern Lucille
Skipper
June 27, 1937 – November 5, 2023
Lavern Lucille Skipper has passed on to her Heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, November 5, 2023 at approximately 4:00 PM. Lavern was born on June 27, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Carl Jefferson Jones and Alta Mae Combs Landry, but lived most of her life in Florida where she was a resident of DeFuniak Springs.
Lavern loved to do crafts and give them to friends and family. She loved to sew and made most of her own clothes. She was known for her cooking and had the best homemade chicken and dumplings. She loved to fish and go camping. She attended Balwin Avenue Baptist Church and read her Bible regularly until her health failed. Lavern enjoyed the career in nursing and often said that she missed it. She would often comment that the nurses today do things differently than when she was a nurse and would give them a hard time.
Lavern was preceded in death by her father and mother; husband of 40 years Thomas Lester Skipper; her only son Bennie Douglas Wade, Jr.; a granddaughter Rebekah Ruth Joedeman; and two brothers Jimmy Hanagriff and James Hanagriff.
She is survived by her only daughter Rosanna Elizabeth Joedeman and husband Mike; grandson Joel Nathan Joedeman and wife Katie; granddaughter Sarah Rachel Buhlmann and husband Matt; five great-grandchildren Rebeckah Price, Melody Joedeman, Harmony Joedeman, Katrina Buhlmann, Benjamin Buhlmann; three brothers Floyd Jones, Richard Hanagriff, Lawrance Hanagriff and wife Patti; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
