Obituary

Julia Faye Wingate, a resident of Mossy Head, Florida, passed away on September 4, 2026, at the age of 82.

Julia was devoted to her family throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and that love shaped the way she lived and cared for those around her. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Mossy Head First Baptist Church, where her faith was part of the steady foundation of her life.

For many years, Julia worked as a cook, sharing her gifts in a way that brought comfort and joy to others. She was especially well known for her yeast rolls and dumplings, remembered with affection by those who were fortunate enough to enjoy them. Outside of her work, she found pleasure in reading and crocheting, simple and meaningful pastimes that reflected her gentle spirit.

Above all, Julia treasured her family. She is survived by her loving children, daughter Robin Larsen and Kenny, son Eddie Wingate, and son Kelly Wingate Jr. and Sandra. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Megan Storer and Jamie, Amanda Goerke and Brad, Sara Larsen, Ben Larsen, Kris Wingate and Dora, Julie Paliza and Daniel, Aaron Disler, and Randy Disler. As well as great-grandchildren, Charles, Alex, Hayden, Hayley, Mariah, Joseph, Skyla, Dorian, Grayson and Kyra. She was also a great-grandmother to many foster children. Each of them carries forward memories of her love, her care, and the warmth she brought into their lives.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Wingate; her father, Abie Smith; her mother, Sara Stewart Smith; and her brothers, Carroll Stewart and Jimmy Smith.

She will be remembered for her faithful heart, her dedication to her family, and the comfort she gave through both her presence and the meals she prepared. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
