John Joseph Doerr, Ed.D., of Seagrove Beach, Florida passed away December 27, 2022, at the age of 86. Joe was born to the late Irma and Joseph Doerr in Freeport, Illinois.

He received a bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University, a master's degree from Kent State University, and Doctor of Education from University of Missouri-Columbia. Joe was Professor and Assistant Dean before his appointment as Dean of the School of Education in 1970.  Joe served as Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs at the University of Missouri-Kansas City from 1979 to 1999.  He was a member of the UMKC Emeritus College. Joe enjoyed playing golf and cards with his friends.  After retirement, Joe relocated to Northwest Florida.  He participated in Gulf STUDY, a research project examining human health consequences of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Joe also served on the Board of Directors of his neighborhood homeowner's association in Seagrove Beach, Florida.

Joe is remembered with love by his wife, Vicky Doerr; son Michael Doerr (Micah); daughter, Leslie Doerr; ex-wife, Gail Doerr; stepdaughter, Carly Carruthers (Jacob); Michael Peerson (Sarah); three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and his sister Kathy Lohmeier (Wayne).

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Irma and Joseph Doerr; daughter Anna Lawrence; sister Barbara Lamont; and brother Ronnie Doerr.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
