Mr. John Henry Doering, Jr., age 97, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was born March 2, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan to John Henry Doering, Sr. and Helen Raul Doering.
Mr. Doering was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was Episcopal by faith and a member of St. Agatha's Episcopal Church in DeFuniak Springs. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. He served his country in the United States Army and Air Force with over twenty-six years of service before retiring as a Master Sergeant. He enjoyed painting, working crossword puzzles. He was also an avid golfer. He enjoyed volunteering at church and enjoyed helping others. He was a very talented handyman.
Mr. Doering is preceded in death by his father and mother; wife of thirty-three years Kathleen Doering; brother Sonny Doering; sister Berle Sloan; and first wife Beulah Doering.
Mr. Doering is survived by his daughters Sandra Wingate, husband Kelly of Mossy Head, Florida, Karen Francis of Arkansas; son Gary Peterson of California; brother Bill Doering, wife Kathy Sue of Tennessee; sisters Carol Williams, husband Fred of Louisiana, Penny Kelly of Mossy Head, Florida; four grandchildren Kristopher Wingate, wife Dora, Amanda Hafer, husband Will, Julie Paliza, husband Daniel, and David Francis; five great grandchildren Mariah, Joseph, William Jr., Dorian and Kyra.
A time of visitation will be held from 8:00-9:00 AM Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
A Funeral Service will be held at 9:00AM, Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, with Bishop Steven Miller officiating.
Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Barrancas National Cemetery 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, Florida 32508, with military honors provided by the United States Air Force.
