Obituary

SMSgt John Frederick Colletta, USAF (retired) passed away, Friday, June 23, 2023, at the age of 48. He was Born in Chicago, IL on December 13, 1974. In 1988, his family moved to Superior, WI. He graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1992. John enlisted in the Air Force on December 1991 under the delayed enlistment program and entered active duty on July 20, 1992. After he completed Basic Training, he went direct duty to his first assignment Minot AFB. His many assignments include: Minot AFB; Eielson AFB, AK; McChord AFB, WA; Osan AB, Republic of Korea; and finally, Eglin AFB. FL. He was also deployed to Kuwait, Oman, UAE, Qatar, and Iraq. He retired from the Air Force on August 28, 2014. While assigned at Eglin AFB, in November 2005. He met the love of his life, Robin Wallbaum, they were married on April 27, 2007.

SMSgt Colletta was awarded many achievements while serving his country; Meritorious Service Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Airforce achievement Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Unit Award with 1 oak leaf cluster, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device with 7 oak leaf clusters, AF Good Conduct Medal with 6 oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with 1 service star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with 2 service stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, AF Overseas Ribbon Short with 1 oak leaf cluster, AF Overseas Ribbon Long, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with gold border with 4 oak leaf clusters, AF Longevity Service with 4 oak leaf clusters, USAF NCO PME Graduate Ribbon with 1 oak cluster, AF Training Ribbon.

Mr. Colletta was preceded in death by his father, John R Colletta, stepfather, James Voyles.

Mr. Colletta is survived by his wife Robin, children; John A Colletta, and Jacob A Colletta, mother, Janice Voyles and one sister, Donna Mrozik.

Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Barrancas National Cemetery; 1 Cemetery Rd, Pensacola, FL 32508, with full Military Honors by the United States Air Force.

Celebration of Life Services will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM, Monday, July 24, 2023 at Destiny Worship Center; 122 Poinciana Blvd, Miramar Beach, FL 32550.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Destiny Worship Center; 122 Poinciana Blvd, Miramar Beach, FL 32550.
