Obituary

Mr. Joe Dan Trotman II, 75, passed away April 24, 2025. He was born on October 14, 1949 to Judge Joe Dan and Doris Trotman. He was the second child to be born in the new Walton County Hospital in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Mr. Trotman lived in DeFuniak Springs until beginning Marion Military Institute where he graduated from high school and junior college. He was active in all sports and excelled in baseball as a shortstop. He was invited to become a part of the Houston Astros but opted to continue his education at Florida State University. He was active in the Chi Phi fraternity and was also in several bands while in Tallahassee.

Mr. Trotman was then called to the United States Army and served in the Army Reserves. He worked for Vitro Services as an electronics tech for many years, traveling all around the world. One of his favorite stations was at Camp David Presidential Retreat, working for President Reagan and President Bush. While there, he was given the opportunity to travel on Air Force I.  One of his most rewarding jobs of his later years was tutoring math at Walton Middle School. He received so much enjoyment helping students increase their math skills.

Mr. Trotman was a dedicated University of Alabama fan, having season football tickets for over 30 years. He also enjoyed going to Alabama baseball, softball, and basketball games. He loved sharing stories with current and former players. He was an avid Alabama memorabilia collector.
Dan was a storyteller and shared his experiences with anyone who would listen. He enjoyed few things more than making people laugh at his stories.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church, serving in many capacities, Sunday school teacher, records keeper, Hospitality Committee, Baptism Committee, and Deacon. He loved the Lord and was always ready to pray for anyone who needed prayer. In addition, Dan served as a Gideon.

Mr. Trotman is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Dan and Doris Trotman. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, his daughters, Nora Catherine (Dylan) and Danielle, and his precious granddaughter, Azella. He is also survived by his sister D'Aun Trotman of Bonifay, sisters-in-law Nancy Holder and Martha Brooks of DeFuniak Springs, brothers-in-law David Holder and wife Dixie of Thomasville, Georgia and Jimmy Holder of Mossy Head, his nieces Cherise Booth and Caitlin Sayler, his nieces and nephews by marriage, Michael, Neil, and Daniel Brooks; Aletha, Emily, Robin, and Jimmy Holder.

In lieu of flowers, please give memorials to the First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs.

A time of visitation will be held from  2:00-3:00 PM, Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; with Reverends Tim Burnham, Joel Glenn, and Derek Glenn officiating.
