Mr. Joe Tom Simmons, age 73, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida formerly of Louisville, Kentucky after 25 years in Fort Walton Beach, Florida passed away December 21, 2012. He was born January 8, 1939 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida and raised in Freeport, Florida by Willie Simmons and Lela Toole Simmons. Mr. Simmons was Christian by faith and a member of the Cornerstone Church of DeFuniak Springs. Mr. Simmons is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Guy Simmons, Miles Simmons, Charles Simmons, Billy Simmons, and one sister Dell Martin. Joe Tom is survived by his wife Glenda Edwards Simmons of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, three sons Joe Tom Simmons, Jr. of Oakley, California, Bruce Allen Simmons and wife Carrie of Freeport, Florida, Nathan Glenn Simmons of Louisville, Kentucky, three daughters Tanya Marie Stuart and husband Dave of Destin, Florida, Jolinda Williams of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Jennifer Schulten and husband Matt of Louisville, Kentucky, two brothers Wayne Simmons and wife Diane of Freeport, Florida, Hugh Simmons and wife Naomi also of Freeport, Florida, two sisters Odessa Matthews and husband Jimmy of Westville, Florida, Thelma Camara and husband Izaias of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Memorialization will be by cremation. Friends are invited to attend Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Cornerstone Church at 2044 Florida 83, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bereavement Fund in Glendas name at any Beach Community Bank.
