Ghioto
December 27, 1940 – May 1, 2023
Mr. James L. Ghioto, age 82, passed away peacefully in his home with his loving and devoted wife by his side on Monday, May 1, 2023. He had been under the gentle care of Emerald Cost Hospice for 13 months. He was born on December 27, 1940 in Jacksonville, Florida to Wilford and Eileen Deneen Ghioto.
Mr. Ghioto was a graduate of St. Ann Catholic School in West Palm Beach, Florida where he played varsity football, baseball and basketball. Upon graduation, and after turning down a college football scholarship, Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served his country for six years. A nearly lifelong resident of Palm Beach County, Jim was active in his churches and community. Upon retirement from Frito Lay, he took great joy in playing with his four grandchildren and watching Auburn and FSU football, as well as Braves baseball.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Wilford, Eileen and Banna Ghioto; his daughters June Eileen Ghioto and Tammy Justiss Pendergrass; and his siblings Wilford, Jr and John Ghioto.
Mr. Ghioto is survived by his caring and dedicated wife of 25 years, Sharon Glorius Ghioto, of Freeport, FL; his sons James, Jr of Jupiter, FL and Steven of Wildwood, FL and Philip Justiss (Lauren) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; his siblings Mary Ann Newman of Lake Elizabeth, CA and Thomas Ghioto of Mt Vernon, WA; and his grandchildren William, Griggs, Grace Catherine and James Justiss of Santa Rosa Beach.
Services will be held at 4:00 PM, Monday, May 15, 2023 at Christ the King Episcopal Church; 480 North County Highway 393, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459.
